May 15, 2017
Huron, S.D. – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its May Exceptional Employee of the Month, Teri Weidner-Eichstadt, RN, with a reception on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.
Weidner-Eichstadt, who has worked as a nurse at HRMC nearly nine years, and currently works as a nurse on the maternity unit, a certified lactation consultant, prenatal educator and shift supervisor, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “Teri seizes every opportunity to learn something new, share her passion for teambuilding and reach out to others.
“Above all Teri has the most amazing positive, ‘can do’ attitude,” the nomination continued. “If you want something done, you know you can count on Teri to get it done and get it done with a lot of 'heart'.”
HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other employees or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.
As May exceptional employee, Weidner-Eichstadt received a reception with family, friends and coworkers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.
She graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University with an associate degree in nursing. Prior to joining HRMC, Weidner-Eichstadt worked at Advance in Brookings, SD, and has filled in as a nurse at various clinics in Huron. She and her husband, Jay Eichstadt who feeds fat cattle and farms with his dad and uncle, live on our farm south west of Wolsey. They have two children: Hadley, age four, and Hayes, age two. In her spare time, Weidner-Eichstadt loves camping in the summer and making improvements to their home. Horses are her other passion in life and she enjoys participating in barrel races in the spring and summer months.
